BRIEF + SURVEY (RIBA WORK STAGES 0-1)

An initial meeting with the client on site provides a sense of place and the needs and desires of its users. A written brief forms the basis for further discussion and the initial design concept.

Depending on the agreed scope of the project a full topographical survey is usually commissioned, which forms the basis for all design work. Tree and photo surveys are taken, and on larger projects, a detailed site analysis survey.

SKETCH PROPOSALS (RIBA WORK STAGE 2)

SKETCH PROPOSALS (RIBA WORK STAGE 2)

From meeting with the client and looking at the survey and site analysis, conceptual proposals are developed. This usually takes the form of hand-drawn sketch plans, sketches and concept images.

Work Stages 0-2 are typically carried out for a fixed fee, allowing the client a choice of how they wish to take the project forward.

DETAILED PROPOSALS (RIBA WORK STAGES 3-4)

DETAILED PROPOSALS (RIBA WORK STAGES 3-4)

Following discussions with the client a preferred option is developed and plans are drawn up in sufficient detail to form the basis for the tender drawings. These drawings will form the basis for fixing a project budget, defining the final scope of work, choices of materials and planting character.

Planting design forms part of the detail design package and many clients wish to get a better understanding of the planting design - and the level of maintenance they feel comfortable with.  Claire will work with you to establish what will work best for your project.

TENDER + SITE SUPERVISION (RIBA WORK STAGES 5-6)

TENDER + SITE SUPERVISION (RIBA WORK STAGES 5-6)

At the tender stage a set of detailed construction drawings and schedules are created and issued to potential contractors.

A detailed masterplan captures any changes and revisions that may have come out of the last stage. Every aspect of the project is detailed to ensure the design intent and the expected levels of quality are passed on to the contractor. This package allows the scheme to be accurately costed and built correctly.

Advice on final contractor selection can be offered, and depending on the preferred scope, some supervision of work and contract management undertaken.

Claire collaborates with clients and contractors to help navigate different project requirements and produce unique places that work as you wish them to.
