Folly Garden

This award winning new garden accompanies a contemporary Garden Folly.  The brief was to create an entirely new area of the garden (previously a derelict area of old poultry sheds) + create a garden which balanced the original Edwardian garden + shrubberies with the wider countryside. Layers of planting help structure views as you walk through the landscape + enhance the play of light on the newly created sunken water garden as well as the Folly itself.

Architects WGPA created an entirely unique modern folly, which serves as part lookout; part entertaining space; + part retreat, unashamedly free of typical building constraints, aimed to celebrate its beautiful grounds.

The garden design creates distinct areas, linking different levels via generous wide steps allowing clear views from the Folly to the wider garden + good spaces for sitting in the sun + eating with friends.

The Folly Garden won the ‘Built Landscape Design’ Category in the 2025 Society of Garden + Landscape Designers Awards.
